App

The See and Learn Saying More Words app aims to help children with Down syndrome improve their speech development. It also intends to help parents, teachers and therapists to encourage children to improve their speech development by copying and repeating spoken simple words in a step-by-step process. This process is believed to be of assistance to children with speech problems. When using this app, children with Down syndrome will use colour pictures and pre-recorded voice prompts in either UK English or US English accent.

The See and Learn Saying More Words app has been developed and funded by a not for profit social enterprise called the Down Syndrome Education Enterprises CIC - owned by Down Syndrome Education International -, and approved by NHS Choices. The Down Syndrome Education Enterprises CIC provides practical information, accessible resources, services and products that aim to improve the lives of children with Down syndrome worldwide. Whereas, NHS Choices provides health related information in the form of articles, videos and tools that aim to help people when making choices about health and lifestyle.

This app is available for Android, Apple and Microsoft, and can be found on myhealthapps.net (in short, MHA). MHA is an online platform that brings together healthcare apps, providing an easy way to find apps for the people. On this platform, each app has been recommended by healthcare communities from all over the world, including empowered consumers, patients, carers, charities and other not for profit organisations.
